What's on and what's gone
Generation Gap
What a fabulous, fun, hot day. Held in searing heat on Saturday 21 January, we had 40 entries divided into 3 sections, such that standards of tennis were similar. A few left early, due to heat exhaustion, but the majority stayed till prizegiving at 5pm. The players ages ranged from 8 to 55 !!
There was a request to hold the tournament in November/December again. We think, with the heat that we experienced, that we have to agree. So to those who missed it, or so enjoyed it and want to play again, get practicing. You know how time flies. We are looking at the last Sunday in November 2012.

Xmas Doubles Tournament - Saturday 3 December 2011

What a lot of fun we had. 35 players in a doubles tournament.
Some players are going to be very stiff and sore for work on Monday!!!!

Halloween Party - Saturday 29 October 2011

Social Tennis and Potjie Evening
Excellent evening held on Saturday 27 August with potjies provided by Pierre, John, Peter and Roger. There was also dancing late into the night for the party people.
Wimbledon Day
The club held a Wimbledon Day doubles tournament Saturday 24 June which was well attended by all standards of players. A great time was had by all. Thanks to Christine for the organisation.
The prize giving for the 2011 Junior and Senior Club Championships was held at the Italian Club on Saturday 28 May. Photos from the event will be posted in due course.
The Annual General Meeting of the club was held on Wednesday 25 May, 7:30 PM at the club.
35th Anniversary Cheese and Wine
The club turned 35 at the end of last year and, to celebrate the event, we held a Cheese and Wine function on Friday 25 February 2011 at 7PM.
The function was well attended by current and past members of the tennis club,as well as the local area councillor, James Vos. Thanks to Ann, Christine, Ellen, Michelle and Tracy for organising the evening with some lovely wines and a myriad of cheeses.
Tracy, as club chair, gave a short speech which was followed by some anecdotes from the past by George Everson, past champion and chair at the club. Councillor Vos gave an interesting short speech on the role of sport and sporting clubs in the city, and thanked the club for the facilities that had been provided to the community over the last 35 years.

It was a great afternoon of tennis. If you weren’t there, shame on you, you missed a fun-filled afternoon.
There were 35 players divided into 3 groups; Reindeers, Angels and Jingle Bells.
The winners of each group were as follows: CRAIG and TRACY in Reindeers, DAVID and MICHELLE G in Angels, and LAURA and JACQUES in Jingle Bells. Well done to all. The Prince tennis bag lucky draw was won by Pietro.
There was no charge for the day, but the “Christmas Hat” was passed around and all the donations were sent to the T.L.C.A project that looks after street children in the Tableview/Blaauwberg area. For more info on this worthy cause visit www.tlcprojects.org.za.

End of Year Bash
An 80's themed End of Year Bash was held at the club on Friday 26 November 2010.
By all accounts this was a great event, some people cannot even remember what happened in the latter part of the evening!
Station 70 - Wednesday 25 August 2010
The club hosted a musical evening at the Roxy Revue Bar, GrandWest Casino, on Wednesday 25 August. Funds raised from this event were put towards the acquisition of a large screen TV for the club house.
Spit Braai - Saturday 7 August 2010
The lamb spit braai was very well attended as was the social tennis beforehand. A big vote of thanks to Lance for the organisation and braaing.
